The FreeRoxana campaign will launch a hunger strike Sunday in support of Roxana Saberi, the Iranian-American journalist jailed as a spy after a perfunctory trial in Tehran.
We’re looking for volunteers who will fast in 24-hour shifts. Everyone can participate — friends, journalists, organizations and other supporters.
Roxana began a hunger strike of her own on April 21 to demand her freedom. A former star soccer player, Roxana is strong, healthy and determined – but she needs to preserve her strength in Iran’s notorious Evin prison.
The FreeRoxana campaign will therefore start the first shift of its hunger strike on May 3, World Press Freedom Day. Adding to the momentum of the Reporters Without Borders fast, this hunger strike will last 12 days, matching Roxana’s personal fast.
